How would you rate Blyth Academy Qatar?
I have had a highly positive experience with Blyth Academy, having enrolled my eldest son from junior kindergarten through Grade 6, as well as my younger son, currently in Grade 1. One of the most commendable aspects of the school is that parents are not burdened with the teaching process; the certified Canadian teachers effectively manage all instructional duties. Their educational approach emphasizes practical learning through research, article writing, and essay composition, which has significantly enhanced my children鈥檚 ability to learn by doing. Although the facilities may not fully align with the tuition costs, this is offset by the overall quality of education delivered by a fully certified teaching staff. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Blyth Academy in Qatar distinguished itself through robust pedagogical strategies and strict safety measures. Communication between parents, teachers, and school management is consistently excellent, though the tuition fees can be considered high, especially in light of the current economic and political climate in Qatar. Furthermore, the academy employs a range of advanced technology tools, such as IXL, Read Theory, EPIC, and Kids A-Z, to support primary-level learning. While the 2024鈥2025 academic year presented challenges for the school, this should not overshadow its strong performance over the past decade. I look forward to enrolling my third child at Blyth Academy, anticipating that they will benefit from the school鈥檚 commitment to developing language skills, fostering creativity, and maintaining a high standard of education.
Teachers are exiting faster than students during a fire drill, a clear sign of internal turmoil. New management is notorious for its punitive measures against teachers who dare to voice concerns.
It is disturbing to me as a parent to watch my children going through the agony and mentally painful effects of bullying at this school. It is hard for me to accept that the head of the school tolerates repeated incidents of physical and mental abuse by not only my child鈥檚 classmates but also by some of the school staff. To be fair, the previous teacher of my daughter when she was in grade 5 was excellent as a teacher and as a human being. However, and to my determent, in grade 6 she wasn鈥檛 as fortunate. She was exposed to both physical and mental abuse by some of her classmates in two different incidents. Despite our efforts as parents to urge the school administration to offer my daughter the support she needed and to provide the required counseling to the perpetrators, our efforts were faced by negligence and at times with attempts of cover up. My children tell me of bullying incidents against other students as well. I would encourage their parents to speak out and report those incidents, not only to the school but also to the MoE, as the body that licensed them, so that every relevant party takes on its responsibility.
Incompetent school administrators. Major conflicts of interest are widely tolerated by the headmaster. Misconduct by staff members treated with impunity. Outdated building beyond repair. Qualified teachers are replaced by unqualified ones. Education is not their primary purpose. Low budget facilities. Support and counselling for students does not exist.
They prioritize tuition fees over students' learning, exhibiting shortcomings in time management, teaching strategies, and a lack of respect towards kids and parents.
As a parent, I can't express enough how grateful I am that we chose Blyth Academy for our children's education. It's been an incredible journey watching my children flourish in an environment that values their presence. The small class sizes have allowed for personalized attention from dedicated teachers who truly care about our child's success. In addition, this institution has greatly benefited and nurtured my children academically in such a way that attracted our return.
The students and teachers of Blyth Academy deserve better. Blyth Management, and specifically the head of school, is thoughtless, disorganized, and incompetent. They show very little concern for their staff, which has resulted in very high turnover. Send your kids elsewhere.
Advance school and approved international
Poor management with lack of experienced teachers
I am not sure about the 5-star reviews of this school. One of the reviews is from a teacher at the school. As a parent this year has been troubling to me. Three weeks in and though the issues from the previous 3 years were covid related. 2 of my children attend the school and am shocked at the lack of facilities (a gym renovated for 2 years), just lockers installed this year. I could go on but the more pressing issues is class sizes, lack of materials, and an no textbooks. This does not align with what I pay in fees.

It was great to organize book fair in the school. Though the variety was good, it would be great if school also provided for books on specific interests. Thank you though for organizing this.

There was some substituting as previous teacher left for some reason. Now it all seems very organized and my daughter likes the way they are getting more chances of speaking in the class.
