How would you rate Newton British Academy Barwa City (NBA)?
Newton British Academy, Barwa City, is the only Newton Group School ever to be accredited by the Department of Education in the UK as "Outstanding" in all areas. When NBA achieved this accreditation in 2022 they were one of only a handful of international schools in the world to achieve this standard. In terms of value for money, NBA is one of the few schools in Qatar to achieve outstanding accreditation reports from BSO and QNSA, the other schools like Doha College are much more expensive, hence in terms of money if you want an outstanding British education it is the best value proposition. My children have been at the school for some years and as a family we are very happy with the education that is provided. The school has improved immensely since 2019, the external exam results are above the UK national average for Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5. The leadership team of the school are stable, in many international schools now the Principal and Heads of School are changing frequently. My friend has their child at a British private school in Qatar and they have had two Principals already this year. The teaching staff are helpful and able to teach to a high standard. The school does have high standards and expects students to behave and try their best every day. For students who will not follow school rules they are dealt with and although this may not be popular with some families it is essential that children behave. NBA make every effort to ensure that students receive a holistic education, through MUN, DoE, P4C and a variety of actives they ensure that the students enjoy being at school. My children enjoy the different events that are constantly run and the positive atmosphere of the school. NBA does listen to parents, feedback is taken on board and the school seems genuinely interested in making sure that all children live up to their potential.
Absolutely horrible. Some students have been sexually assaulted in the school and can鈥檛 go due to trauma. Rats were seen under staircases, bugs all over the ceiling and overall disgusting hygiene. Students struggle with depression and unfortunately some of that was caused by the school itself. If you care about your child鈥檚 mental health and well being do not put them in this school.

Admin staff do not understand what education is and their policies do not support students. Admissions told me "It is a private school and money is the focus" (paraphrased a little). Had to pay for 2 assessments even though first one was passed but they only give a few days validity for it so had to do another and pay 300 qar again. I wouldn't advise anyone to go to a school which openly says that they put money before their learners. We know private schools are business but to be told this is different. Imagine what they will do to cut costs and how it will affect the kids as well as teacher well being.
