How would you rate The American School of Madrid (ASM)?
This is our third year at the ASM, and we are very happy. From the beginning, our family felt welcomed and included in the school community. There鈥檚 a mix of American, Spanish, and international families, which creates a rich and diverse environment for both students and parents. The teachers and staff are warm, supportive, and truly invested in the students鈥 well-being and development. They are amazing! Our children genuinely enjoy going to school each day.
We are Americans who moved to Madrid with our two kids and enrolled them at ASM. We have found that the academics are strong and the teachers are engaging and very hands on. My kids love the music, sports and theater programs. They have a diverse set of after-school-activities and it feels like there is something for everyone. And having all the sports and activities right after school has made our home life easier. One of our favorite part of the school is all the school trips that the kids get to go on for sports, music, Model UN, class-level trips, etc.. It's such a unique experience and it allows the kids to be independent, see new places, bond with their classmates and meet kids from all over Europe.
We've been here 3 years and our kids really enjoy how learning is fun, creative, and the many different variety of activities. It's a truly international community - so many nationalities. It's definitely a well-rounded education, with strong academics coupled with an outstanding music program, so many sports and activities, and opportunities for trips, concerts and shows. The teachers are devoted, and the community is open and welcoming. Lots of events so if you're a new family, it's easy to settle in and integrate immediately.
The American School of Madrid is like home for our family. As an American Spanish family we feel incredibly blessed to be part of this community for the past 12 years. ASM is made up of so many different cultures and is full of families that have lived all over the world. ASM is much more than just a school, it is a culture in itself and one that is cherished. We couldn鈥檛 imagine living in Madrid without this amazing community.
Both our middle schooler (6th grade) and our lower schooler (3rd grade) are genuinely happy and thriving. ASM has provided a warm and welcoming community from day one, helping us integrate smoothly as a new family. Our kids have made fantastic friends from diverse international backgrounds, enriching their perspectives and daily interactions. In the Lower School, we particularly love the hands-on approach to learning, exemplified by the amazing OPAL outdoor play program. It fosters creativity, independence, and joyful learning experiences. The staff is outstanding, highly professional yet approachable, warm, and attentive to each child's unique needs. Our daughter in Middle School enjoys the stimulating environment of moving to different rooms for various subjects, enhancing her sense of responsibility and independence. The After School Program is another highlight, offering a broad range of engaging activities, including sports, arts, and creative clubs, encouraging students to explore and develop their talents beyond academics. ASM's strong focus on emotional and social well-being, alongside rigorous academics, has created an environment where our children feel supported, challenged, and genuinely happy every day. We highly recommend ASM to any family seeking a nurturing school community that feels like home.
Great education, international experience
The American School of Madrid is an excellent school! Would highly recommend it!
My daughter (Chelsea Williamson Honors Class 2011) attended ASM from 2008 to 2011 and received a quality education. She also received IB certifications and was accepted to 80% of the colleges she applied to. Thank you, Principals O' Hale & Reykdal, Mrs. K Cullen, Vetrano, Grzywacz for actively mentoring my child providing an excellent educational experience.
Great school where the kids are happy to be there. Wish my school had been like it!
